Orbital Solo

« I slowly rotate like a moving matter »

For the Orbital solo, I place myself in the middle of the audience and slowly rotate as a moving matter. With the neck of the double bass as an stationary axis, a continuous, invariant, stable turning start for the all performance.

I have been working with dance for a long time. Not as a stationary musician on the side, but, rather, as a sound maker in action.  However, I never imagined that one day I would move in a purely musical context. Then the borders became more blurred.

Through different experiences, I realized that slowly rotate brought another dimension to my musical posture. Walking without stops, with smalls steps, a rotating movement close to a shamanic action is installing. For me and for the audience all is always moving. The double bass and the body in play continually offer different angles of vision and listening. The brightness of the sound changes. Its resonances too. The movement continues, stretches. Silences are no longer silences.
The very complete sound work, from the simplest to the most complex, combined with the continuous movement gives to the Orbital solo a cosmic, spiritual dimension, but also very archaic. This set permits an entire imaginary world to reveal itself.
